Moods

Moods that can’t seem to find
the light through the darkest shadows
can be lifted with blooms of bright yellow
like a smile sprinkling cheer
into a day washed out in beige.

    1. Thanks, Maggie, and how wonderful about the Gerbera! Blooms can really make a difference. And you are so right about trying a little harder to find the light too. I’ve been feeling doomsy gloomsy lately, so I needed to write something uplifting again. 🙂 Hugs and lots of love to you too, dear friend! xoxoxoxoxo ❤️🤗🌻

  1. Lovely poem Lauren, thank you!

Yes, it’s the beige time of year, or here, greige. It’s a real colour. I learned it from studying about making wool and cotton… greige goods.

So the snow is piled in hills, and the pollution has turned it greige. (Literally and figuratively)

Doesn’t matter! I’m your sunflower inside.

The arts, like your writing, fill me with a special happiness.

Have a great weekend dear Lauren!

    1. Thanks, Resa, and you just taught me a new color! 🙂 Wow, greige, not so pretty, is it? But yes, you are my sunflower! 🌻 I feel the same way about the arts, writing, etc. It’s what keeps me distracted from all the greige in the world (and our country). Wishing you a fantabulous weekend! 🧵📚✍🏻❤️🤗🌷

      1. Yes, the world is greige. So much hate and war, all over.
Still, we grab our lucky star and do our art!
Ahh, and on that lovely thought, I’m going to go draw!
        Have a blast! 🧵📚✍🏻❤️🤗🌷 X 2

  2. …”lifted with blooms of bright yellow”…yes! Much like the beautiful blooms Chris created in Cora’s cover art. There’s something about those sunny flowers. Thanks, Lauren! 🌞🥰🌞

  3. Who doesn’t love sunflowers, right? I always delighted in their appearance on the farm in my boyhood. A real summer treat, for sure. A wonderful poem, Lauren. Happy Sunday to you, my friend. 😊🌻

    1. Thanks so much, Dwight, and we also have daffodils! The bright yellow makes it seem as though they’re smiling, doesn’t it? 🙂 70 degrees sounds wonderful too. I think we’ll be close to the same. Looking forward to spring and longer, lighter evenings.
