A Fun Collaboration with Resa!

Dear Friends,

After almost two months on a break, it’s good to be back because I’ve missed you all, and I hope I haven’t been forgotten. 🙂 Before the break, one of my friends, Resa, and I had decided to collaborate on a post. First of all, if you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Resa, you can find her at https://artgowns.com/ & https://graffitiluxandmurals.com/.

We were talking one day about limericks (during my limerick phase) and she suggested adding some artwork with a few that I had written. Thus, the collaboration commenced! Resa is a costume designer of gorgeous gowns. She is a passionate photographer of outdoor ephemeral art. And her artistic talent is incredible, appealing to our emotions as seen in her sketches below.

Two limericks I sent to Resa were about my lovable canine, Copper, who is almost 14 years old. He doesn’t go fast or far anymore, and his hind legs are weakening. But he is the biggest sweetheart with amber eyes that see right into your soul. The other limerick was about blooms because of my love for nature. Then Resa suggested that I find inspiration from her sketches to write some poetic thoughts. This was challenging because of the writer’s block I’ve been up against. But in its own time, inspiration arrived, which turned into shadorma poetry both serious and soothing. Resa’s beautiful artwork inspired, along with our current political climate, and Nature herself.
So, I hope you enjoy our teamwork!

My responses to Resa’s blooms…

Nature’s Therapy

She lounges
in nature’s embrace
in a world
that rages
unsettling to the core
blooms provide comfort

Her country
spins and twists and turns
an outcome
uncharted
she finds a place of respite
reveling in silk

Blooming Comfort

Colors of
nature offer hope
golden, pink,
purple, red

evoking elation for
tomorrow’s sunrise

She sinks her
soul into their hues,
fragrances,
spring softness,
being a part of their world
a setting divine

  1. Dear Lauren,

    Welcome back!

I am thrilled and honoured to be part of your return to blogging after your blogging hiatus.

I adore the poetry…limericks, shadorma and their spaces in between.

You know, I fell in love with Copper when I read Copper Boy in Ever So Gently.

“never mind when he attempted to eat the barbecue!”

That line says so much – how we continue to love even when stressed to a point of breaking. That we can forgive. That we can rise above the material world to an intellectual self.

This collaboration began, then shortly after my beloved Jeep cat passed. Drawing Copper was a perfect therapy for me.

    Art inspires more art.

    War inspires more war.

I say “Make Art Not War!”

Thank. you for this wonderful experience, Lauren!

    1. Hi Resa,

I’m so glad we did this post together, but even more grateful for your patience! The last two months have been crazy, to say the least. I’m also glad you liked my poems because I wanted to ‘do right’ by your amazing art.

As to Copper, he’s challenged us in some ways, and I’ll never forget that day when the barbecue almost met its demise. 🙂 But he’s a love bug, for sure! And I’m still sorry about Jeep’s passing, but I’m glad that drawing Copper was therapeutic for you.

I love these lines of yours: “how we continue to love even when stressed to a point of breaking. That we can forgive. That we can rise above the material world to an intellectual self.” How profound!

And Yes to “Make Art Not War!”

You’re so welcome, and thank you for teaming up with me. I’m honored and thrilled too!

      Hugs, my friend ❤️🤗🌷

  6. Welcome back, Lauren, and thank you for sharing this beautiful collaboration. Resa’s art is stunning and beautifully pairs with your poetry. 💕

      1. You’re welcome, Lauren, and thank you. I had issues with my hands last week but I am much better now. Too many years of typing. LOL 💗

  7. Dare I add my humble voice to this chorus? Welcome back, Lauren. And what a grand welcome you have with all these comments.

I loved the poem about your dog. (I named a little girl character Copper in one of early blog serials.) Resa’s beautiful portrait captures his personality. I love all of her drawings, but the one with the flowers is a splendid mix of beauty and fun. Hugs to you both.

    1. I’m happy you added your voice to this amazing chorus, Teagan! Thanks for your lovely words! When we adopted Copper in 2012, that was his name which fit him perfectly with his coat, so we kept it. Resa did a superb job (as always). Hugs to you and hope you’ve been well! ❤️🌺🐾

  8. You two have made a perfect collaboration… her art is magnificent, your limericks are perfectly matching..
Despite the writers block you still was able to create something, I applaud you for that.

  9. It’s so nice to see you back here, you have most definitely not been forgotten. In fact, just the other day I was thinking I need to visit your blog and check if you’re back. But you beat me to it. Anyway, very much enjoyed the art and poetry.

    1. You’re so sweet, Pooja, and you made my day. When I take long breaks, I always wonder, you know? 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoyed this fun collaboration, and if you don’t know Resa, please visit her site. You’ll love it. I’m happy to see you too! 🩷🌺

      1. I’ll definitely check out her site. Oh yes, I definitely know what you mean. I took a break for a few months once but always wondered if people still thought of me and what everyone was up to in my absence 😅

  10. Welcome back Lauren. I can see by the uber amount of comments here, nobody has forgotten you. ❤ What a fantastic collab with the Great Resa, I’ve done a few collabs with Resa too, and she’s multi-talented – artist, designer, photographer and writer. Your poetry was evocative of the times, wrapped in beauty and hope. And Copper poem had me chuckling, especially, first stanza. Hugs ❤ xx

    1. Thanks for your wonderful words of encouragement and support to both of us, Debby, and I’m humbled the uber amount of comments. But many are due to Resa too. 🙂 Still, it’s an amazing come-back greeting! So you know what it’s like to collab with Resa. She’s amazing! And I appreciate your kind words about my poetry too. Yes, Copper is a cutie who comes with lots of slobber and shedding. Hugs to you, and hope you’ve been well! xoxoxo

  11. Excellent collaboration Lauren. I really did not realize you were gone for that long, 2 months. Anyways, I am glad that you are alive and well.

Can’t wait to see your poetry in August. Wishing you a happy and amazing month of August💯✨✨

  12. As if anyone can forget Lauren Scott
    Never.
    Welcome back dear friend.
Missed you a lot, we did.

    Great Copper limericks.
And glorious collaboration. Wowed by you two.

But now that you’re back go slow please. Please.

I mentioned you and borrowed a few of your lines for a W3 cento the other day. 🙇🏽‍♀️ please don’t mind 🙏

I knew you were absent and didn’t want to bother you with notifs. 🙇🏽‍♀️ 🤗
Remember, go easy dear one. I’m going so slow, you’d think I’m a snail. It’s so hot. I can’t do more.
    ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡ bee well.

    1. Well, you never know, and contrary to your words, I do feel the air of silence from some, but it is what is. There’s nothing I can do, even though it does’t make me feel good. I’m going slow and life is finally smoothing out. And I know what you mean about the heat. It’s been the hottest summer for us w/o a/c. But we finally bought a little unit for our family room, so that is our ‘cool’ room. 🙂

Of course, you can use my lines. Let me know when; I’d love to read your post since I missed a lot when I was gone.

Have a great day and stay well too, my friend! xoxoxoxo
