“In Darkness there is Light” published on Gobblers at Masticadores!

Hello Everyone, we had a wonderful weekend away and I’ll share some photos later. But today, I want to thank Manuela Timofte, Editor of Gobblers at Masticadores, for publishing my poem “In Darkness there is Light.” A wonderful surprise on this first day of April. ❤️

Nighttime falls inside the doors of the beautiful hotel
an experience to tuck away in my memory box
Many sprint here and there following their agendas
in the midst of mild chaos –
some scrambling from point A to point B
wondering what happens next
or maybe they’ll discover a cozy spot like mine
with a small, round table and chair

in my private slice of darkness

An unexpected power outage doesn’t stop me
Who doesn’t wish for a little light,
but functioning without it…
bring on the adventure!

As I look around in blackness and listen,
words flutter nearby

Onward

candle

Everywhere, affecting our senses
We’re subjected to horror never-ending
How much more can our souls ache?
How much more can our hearts break?

Should we succumb to defeat that we feel?
Throw in the towel with arms in the air?
Are they winners again because we allow,
Or is perseverance what it’s all about?

Let’s not restrict our minds to the darkness
Instead, dare to dream with eyes wide open
Envision the world we desire to see
Surround ourselves with the light we need

Transformation

I find myself going the wrong way
at rapid speed and I’m so preoccupied
that I miss the gap in the road before
tumbling in. Darkness surrounds me
with verve. A smooth texture is cool
under my fingertips and less frightening
than my imagination. Still, uncertainty
and fear consume me. Strength has always
been my friend. Weakness has been an
acquaintance. I rely on my friend and
ever so slowly, with fingers gripping each
little crevice, I find my way out and am
blessed to feel sunshine on my shoulders

(The darkness in this poem is fiction
and the sunshine is reality)

After the Storm - A USE THIS ONE

These words are very personal for my family and I
and Scott’s photo couldn’t have been more perfect.
This is the last of the “Scott & Scott” collaborating collection,
but maybe there’ll be more in the future. 🙂
