An unexpected surprise and more at Brian’s today!

It’s going to be a beautiful Saturday. Hubby and I woke up around 6:30 am. He made the coffee, and since we’re going to an apple fair today, I wanted to check my blog and social media before we left. The coffee bean aroma swirled from the kitchen into the living room. So, I poured me a cup, then sat down and said “good morning” to my laptop. I saw that Brian left me a ping back awaiting my approval. He is a wonderful writer – entertaining, humorous, but also thought-provoking. Each week, he shares three blessings, and he does this because the world can be crazy at times…and in today’s post, he mentions my book, King Copper. Of course this made my day, but his blessings are great reminders to focus on the positive as the ‘noise’ rumbles around us. Simply click on the link below to be gently transported to his insightful blog. If you don’t know Brian, take your time. You’ll discover tidbits that won’t disappoint. Thanks again, Brian! I appreciate your support! 🙏

My book is available on Amazon,Barnes and Noble, and Kobo (e-book only):

Gobblers by Masticadores publishes “Let Man Lay Down Rifles to be Ally”

I’m pleased to announce that my poem “Let Man Lay Down Rifles to be Ally” is published on Gobblers by Masticadores today! I am very grateful to Manuela Timofte and her staff for publishing this special piece.
I hope you all enjoy!

Let Man Lay Down Rifles to be Ally

If only humans could absorb lessons
From the largest mammals walking the earth.
Their big hearts bursting with kind expressions,
A principle understanding golden worth.

If only humans would shed their black greed,
Knives and guns stealing an innocent life.
Torturing for the sale of ivory
Beneath a darkened sky, spine-chilling cries.
..

Stress, Sweltering, Stillness, and Smiles

Dear Friends, it’s hard to believe that this blogging break has turned into a month already. I thought I’d be gone for a couple of weeks. But the truth is that a roofing project has turned into a noisy, costly, and stressful nightmare. And during this time, Copper (our lovable lab) got really sick with gastroenteritis. It’s never easy to watch our furry family members suffer. But he’s finally back to his normal chipper self, off of his bland chicken and rice meals, and onto his regular food. I haven’t felt like cooking, so I’ve cooked more for him than for us!

Then my husband came down with the flu, but luckily, he’s on the mend. And lastly, a few days ago, a heat wave entered into the equation and it’s been disgustingly hot. Most homes in our area don’t have air conditioning like us, but we do have a portable ac unit which helps. Sanctuary defined! Still, this hot spell is unprecedented to continue on until 11 pm next Wednesday. Yuck!

As to writing, I’ve written very little. My mind has been preoccupied, so I hope my muse will return soon. On a more positive note, a couple weeks ago, we went to my nephew’s wedding in the Santa Cruz mountains. We had a blast and it was a gorgeous setting in the company of majestic redwoods.

My sleeping puppy (almost 14 years old)

I have missed you all and will see you later in the month, hopefully. Fingers crossed “this too shall pass.” I am practicing on stillness in my mind because getting upset doesn’t help.

My poetry collection will turn one year old
later this month, but if you don’t own a copy,
I hope you’ll add it to your home library.
You’ll find many takeaways about nature, love, and life! 💚🩵💚

Night Owl by Resa McConaghy

Hi All,

I’m sharing a little bit about a dear friend of mine, Resa. She is an amazing photographer with a passion for taking pics of outdoor ephemeral art, and the artwork she finds is stunning and unique. Resa opens our eyes to this incredible corner of the art world, and our lives are enriched and better for her discoveries! Today she shares gorgeous owls, and I’ve always been fascinated by these beautiful birds. Check out her post!

Her site is “Graffit Lux and Murals”,  dedicated to showcasing & documenting Graffiti Art  and Murals in Toronto and Winnipeg. But she also features Street Art of other cities around the globe through travels of hers, and guest contributors. Taking these pics is a passion and a joy, and it shows in her blog posts. Each work of graffiti art or mural evokes thoughts in her, and these thoughts are reflected in the titles of her Posts.

I’ve closed comments because I’m directing you to Resa’s blog. Visit her and you’ll know what I’m talking about. 🥰

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day!

Sending out peace and love!
~Lauren

Just a little note…

Dear Friends,

This will be short, but first of all, thank you for your continued support to my little corner in the land of blogging. It’s been over ten years and I’m still truckin’ along, loving the journey and wonderful connections this community offers. Not to mention, the online classroom, so many forms of poetry and writing tips shared.

More gratitude for those who have offered tremendous support in any way for my latest book, More than Coffee. You are greatly and graciously appreciated. I apologize for the sappy component. Then again, it’s intentional. 🙂

And in closing, I’ll be taking a little time off from blogland to focus on family. So, I regret to miss your posts, but we all know the feeling that whirls around us when a break is needed. And perhaps, life nudges us with clues as well. Comments are also closed. But I look forward to seeing you all in the beginning of May.

Take care. Stay well. Be happy. Hugs of gratitude coming your way…

Don’t forget to enjoy the sweetness life offers!
And the beauty!
So much beauty! ❤️
