Bio

Welcome to BaydreamerWrites where I share my writing and news about my upcoming books. A poet, memoirist, children’s book author and fiction writer, I enjoy small-town living in Northern California with my husband, Matt, of thirty-seven years. Our son and daughter live out of state, but with frequent visits and technology, our family of four remains close.

I have published four poetry collections: New Day, New Dreams, Finding a Balance, Ever So Gently, and King Copper: Our dog’s life in poetry, which is a special tribute to my family’s beloved Copper who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in March 2025. In 2021, I released my memoir, More than Coffee in verse and prose. My first children’s book, Cora’s Quest, was released in December 2024.

I am a recent Pushcart Nominee and have been a guest on several podcasts. My writing is featured on Spillwords Press where I was voted Author of the Month and garnered Publication of the Month awards. My work has also been featured on Gobblers and Masticadores. I am a contributing author in several anthologies: Poetry Treasures 2: Relationships, This is How We Grow, Petals of Haiku, and Tranquility: An Anthology of Haiku. My muse discovers inspiration from my family, spending time in the great outdoors, reveling in simple things, and marveling at the mysteries of life.

Thank you for stopping by!

    Hi Seester,
I have to say that I am really impressed by your writing and thoughts put down in verses! Very enjoyable to read!
    Keep up the good work!
    Lots of love and encouragement,
    DkH

    1. After reading some of yours, I can see the similarities, too! I could spend hours on this computer, reading, but I guess we do need to take breaks to eat, sleep and clean the house, occasionally! 🙂 However, I do look forward to reading more of your poetry and I also welcome your feedback. I’m new at this blog-site, so I’m still learning how to use it and make it more public for others to view…:)

    Honey,

Your poetry is an inspiration and source of joy to many. Keep up the good work. I am so proud of you as you touch other lives in positive ways.

    Love MS

  3. I’m also fairly new to this blogging bidness. And, I see some similarities in our writing and philosophies, too. I’m one of those learn as you go kinda guys, but if you have any questions, I’ll be glad to try and help. If I don’t know, I will say so! My first mistake was trying to do too much. I’ve scaled way back, and things are running much smoother now. The main thing is to have fun with it. And, don’t be skeert!

    1. Hi Scott,

Here I am responding to a new reader, then I started going through old comments and came across yours that I never replied to. I know I commented on your blog, but hey, I’m being silly and responding now, also. Is two years too late? lol Anyway, I think back then I was so in awe of your writing and so stunned you were adding me to your favorites…so thank you, my friend, for all of your support. (Better late than never, right?:D) Hugs and blessings!

  4. This is a lovely basis for your blog, my friend. I think I will find many affinities as I roam around your site; lots of fun to be had and things to be learned here, I can tell. You are very welcome to the blogosphere and I hope you’ll have as great a time as I’m having, learning my way around! All best!

  6. I adore you’re poetry! You are very inspiring! I am a young writer and poetry is my passion, I would greatly appreciate it if you checked out some of my poetry and possibly gave me some advice on how to improve it? Again, you’re poetry was simply amazing, I was touched! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for your kind complement! I will definitely be over your way, however, I’m honestly not one to give advice, since I’m not formally trained myself! I write what I feel and read others work, too. Reading is a great source of learning, as well. I look forward to reading your writing; see you soon and thanks again!

I am just calling in from Deb’s Space,
you know from her 7×7 Award just to
be a tad nosy 🙂 Well as she added a
fine accolade about your Space, I had
to call and have a nice browse 🙂

Okay enough of my wittering, I will be
taking a look at your poetry next my friend 🙂

    Androgoth

    1. Hi Androgoth,

For some reason, I missed this, so sorry! My reply now is silly, since I’ve “talked” to you on other posts, but I wanted you to know you were not forgotten forever and I do appreciate your support! I’ll be over your way now! 🙂

  10. hi, I just love your work, warmth, poetry and inspiration. I couldn’t help myself but to nominate you again for the Kreativ Blogger Award. It will publish today on my site. I subscribed and am putting you on my blogroll. You really are special. I am honored to be in your company!
    Linda

    1. Awww…Linda, you are so sweet and I am truly honored and humbled that you thought of me for this award. I’m still stunned that my writing (amateur and truly from the heart) has been enjoyed by many, let alone, a few people…anyway, thank you for subscribing and I also love your writing, too, and feel the same way…it’s funny you mention your blog role, because I have a list of blogs to add sitting right here on my desk and you’re also on it! Thanks again and I will follow through with the award this weekend…Hugs!

Hi Lauren, just popping in to let you know that I have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award – please visit my blog for more information. Enjoy! ~ Julie 🙂

    1. Thank you sooo much, Julie! I really appreciate you thinking of me! If you could give me a few days to follow through, that would be wonderful~ Thanks again, and I’m glad we’ve met in this land of blogging! xx 🙂

  13. Hello Lauren!

It feels like forever since we last spoke on here! I’m so glad to hear back from you after all this time. I’m really sorry to hear about your Mother, I hope you don’t mind if I keep you and her in my thoughts – I know we don’t really know each other properly, but still.

Your blog is so very inspirational, and you’ve gained such a fantastic following because of your honesty and the way you can touch people with words from the heart. I really, really admire that. 🙂

I realise things are tough for you now, but I hope you can take some comfort in your blogging friends, including me if you’ll let me, and our support. You’re so wonderfully genuine and talented; I think that everyone here wishes the best for you and your family right now.

As always, I look forward to your future posts.
    Take care & best wishes,

    Eve~

    1. Eve, I’m at a loss for words; your comment made me teary-eyed (in a good way). I’ve only told a few blogging friends, including you, but I have received tremendous support and prayers, which I greatly appreciate. As I mentioned before, it’s all a part of life, but so hard, sometimes…
Regarding my blog, I still am unable to say I’m a writer…a blogger, yes, and I’m still amazed at how many have enjoyed my poetry. I read yours and compare and wish I could write like you. I’m sounding juvenile now, but that’s the kid in me, I suppose..We all have different styles, and reading others posts have truly been a learning experience; very helpful, as I don’t have the knowledge of poetry structure, etc. With that being said, I do appreciate your kind words, coming from you, who is extremely talented in writing poetry, so deep and thought provoking~ Thanks again, and hugs to you for your visit today~
