One evening before dinner, we drove to a nearby redwood grove that has been renovated. We found new grated nature trails, an obstacle course, and a small rock climbing stump for children. Only a few people were there, and among the tall giants, we felt a cool respite. A slight breeze accompanied us as we walked for almost two miles on a winding trail, and hopped along the obstacle course keeping our balance and freeing our inner child.
It was really fun, breathtakingly beautiful, and calming...

In Good Company
When we stroll among redwood trees,
our steps slow down, we are in good company.
There is no reason to rush and we won’t hesitate
to hug them with open arms, because, why not?
They deserve reverence for their generosity.
In their company, fine fibers of peace
flow through our hearts and souls,
centering us. Any worries burdening our minds
fall to the earth to be walked upon and buried.
We listen as their leaves whisper in the breeze,
Be filled with joy and do not fret,
for there is no time for that nonsense.

I can feel the magic! And it is amazing! I am so glad you had so much fun walking and connecting with nature! Xoxo โค
Im glad the magic revealed itself, Carol Anne! Thanks for joining me! โค๏ธ๐ป
To spend time in the presence of Redwoods is to spend time in the presence of grandeur.
Definitely, Violet. These giants are amazing!
Absolutely stunning trees. Great photos.
They are stunning! Thanks, Esther!
The majesty of redwoods is incomparable.
Absolutely, Jacqui!
No time for that nonsense, yes.
โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
What a wondrous place! So good to see the love and reverence for the trees. โค๏ธ
Theyโre deserving, Lori! Thanks for stopping by. ๐
I love the Redwoods. Lovely pictures and the poetry that they evoke.
Theyโre amazing, Balroop. Thanks for your lovely words. ๐
Such beauty in your poem, Lauren. One thing is sure that before you leave, you will have visited so many wonderful places that will always be in your heart! โค๏ธ
Thanks so much, Cindy, and so true. I wish we could take these places with us. But until then, we will enjoy as often as we can. โค๏ธ๐ป
You’re so very welcome. You will have so much more to write about always which will be great fun too! xo ๐
You’re so kind, Cindy! Have a great day and weekend, my friend! xoxo ๐
Of course.. I will and you too!!!! ๐
Mesmerizing
Thanks, Joy ๐
Nothing like walking through the redwoods, Lauren:) xo
I agree, Denise! And we can do it over and over again, and still feel the same magic each time. ๐
It really is magical each time xo
Those giants are beautiful.
We canโt get enough of them. ๐
Love the redwoods. I really need to get out west to see them in person. My son sent pix similar to yours last year. It hit me how much they make the big oaks here look like kindling. Tiny in comparison. Love your description Lauren.
Thanks, Brian, and big oaks are impressive too. But you need to see the redwoods! You would be in awe just like we are each time we see them. We have 2 parks nearby with redwoods, so we’re lucky. But we don’t plan to make this our last residential stop in our lives, so we’d like to take them with us when we do move. LOL
Youโll have to find a way to pick โem up and take โem with you. Might be problematic but if thereโs a will, thereโs a way! ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐
LOL “if there’s a will, there’s a way” You are so right, Brian! ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ
Your poem reminds me of our trips to the redwoods, Lauren. Magic and majestic!
Thanks for your lovely words, Miriam. Do you have redwoods near where you live? We’re thinking of OR for retirement, along with other ideas. But we have more research and visiting to do.
Hi Lauren, we have no redwoods in Oregon. Douglas-fir is common and is state tree. The other trees are oak, maple, and pine. Eugene, Bend, and Ashland are on the top list of retirement in Oregon. Website talks about the rising cost because more people move there. We pay close to $10,000 property tax.
Thanks for the tips, Miriam. We love Bend, but we also have Kaiser and need to find locations nearby. We have it really good where we’re at, but we’d like to try somewhere else too. It’s not an easy task. Any place we’d want to move is expensive like where we’re at, and sadly, we pay much more than you do in prop. taxes. It’s ridiculous.
I know, Lauren! When we lived in Orange County, we only paid around $5,000 after living in our house for 30 years because it was under Prop 13 according to the time we bought the house. After we sold it, the prop tax for the new owner went up more than double.
I did a quick search. Ashland has Kaiser. Bend and Eugene don’t have Kaiser but you can check their network to see what partner facilities they use.
Thanks for the info, Miriam! ๐๐
You’re welcome, Lauren! ๐ ๐
Yes, I remember visiting the redwood groves! They’re so big, powerful, and beautiful!
Exactly, Dawn! They’re amazing, and no less amazing each time we see them.
Wonderful โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

I just part of my day in a redwood forest. They are such majestic symbols of life.
Wonderful, Pete, and they sure are. We can’t get enough of them. Luckily, there are two parks near us, about a 15 minute drive. So we visit these stunning giants often. ๐
Pure Magic
Thanks so much!
I love forests, they are magical, like your poem. I have never been to the redwood forest but I would like to see it one day.
Thanks for your wonderful words, Thomas, and when you get the chance, I know you’ll love these majestic giants.
Yes that is what I think. I would love to go there.
I can feel the magic!! I love, “They deserve reverence for their generosity.” So good, Lauren!
Yay, Wynne! I’m glad you can feel the magic! And thanks for your lovely words! Enjoy your weekend! ๐
Lovely photos, I like the last one so much… the way the light falls onto their bark! And your verse describes it all so beautifully… “In their company, fine fibers of peace flow through our hearts and souls, centering us.” ๐ Nice weekend days, Lauren!
Thanks so much for your beautiful comment, Nicole. I appreciate it very much, and wish you a lovely weekend. By the way, I just finished your beautiful book! I’m working on 8 reviews. ๐ So, I’ll share sometime this month. ๐
Thank you kindly, Lauren, and please, take your time, no need to rush ๐ Over these past three weeks now I’ve come to see what it means to be so actively and beautifully involved in such a bubbly community, truly enjoying it all, learning and finding out things, while also realizing the necessity of a clear schedule, otherwise it can all become a bit full, especially besides work, daily tasks and errands. There are 7 books queued up in my Kindle Library at the moment, but… I must say, 8 is quite a number. Wishing you a fruitful time, but also relaxing and enjoyable… as you perfectly described in this lovely redwood post above ๐
You’re so welcome, Nicole, and you’re right, it can become too much if we let it. So, we have to manage our time to avoid any head-spinning days. ๐คช I’ve read the books, now come the reviews. But I really need to write a review once I’m done with a book. I just haven’t gotten into that routine, which means they pile up, literally, until one by one, I am done. ๐ Have a lovely weekend. ๐
I see exactly what you mean, sometimes I too have a couple of those per week or so, head-spinning days… ๐ A lovely weekend to you too! ๐
This is such a beautiful post Lauren
