Early Easter Wishes!

This photo evokes many great Easter memories, even though our son doesn’t look too happy! Looking back, I’m not sure how thrilling it was for our children to visit The Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. But at the time, it’s what we did for that iconic photo! Do you remember those times? I think when they were younger like our son’s age in this photo, they were more agreeable with Santa Claus!

Easter is a Christian holiday that marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion. Whether you believe in Jesus, or even if you’re concerned about the current political climate, Easter is also a fun day for children as they go on their Easter egg hunts. I always hope the rain will be kind to the children, letting the sun steal the show. I found the meaning of the Easter egg online: symbolizes the empty tomb from which Jesus resurrected, representing new life and rebirth.

Easter for Matt and I is quieter each year with our son and daughter living out of state, and our parents have both passed. My sisters are in Southern California and have their own families. We had always attended church, but we stepped away a few years ago when some members soured our experience. This had been ongoing, but we finally reached a point of making a decision. Then going to church changed to getting outdoors, spending time with nature…hiking on a trail, picnicking, walking on the beach, taking in all the beauty surrounding us and the blessings in our life.

  1. Love the memories shared and renewal of the season, Lauren! We tried to take Sienna to visit the Easter bunny and we we just got to the entry and she wailed and gale so we didn’t dare take her. Cute picture and beautiful poem! Have a great day! 🩷

  2. Thank you, Lauren…you said something so perfectly right here:
…”going to church changed to getting outdoors, spending time with nature…hiking on a trail, picnicking, walking on the beach, taking in all the beauty surrounding us and the blessings in our life…”
Feeling all of that. Happy Easter…much love! 💕💕💕

  3. What a beautifully uplifting poem Lauren, thank you 🙏Love your photographs as well.
Easter is far later this year than normal, no idea why.
A very Happy Easter to you dear friend and many blessings to you and yours 🐇❤️🐇

    1. Thanks for your lovely words, Maggie, and I don’t know either. Ours will be quiet though, probably will go for another drive and picnic somewhere in nature. The weather is beautiful, perfect for an Easter egg hunt. I hope you have a lovely day too, dear friend! 🐣🤗💕

      1. It is my pleasure Lauren..
A drive sounds perfect to me 🤗.
Please send some of that good weather across the pond, lol.
        Enjoy my friend.
Much love and warm hugs to you 🐇🐣🥰❤️

  4. thanks Lauren. Happy Easter . Yes, I left a church last year when one alder soured my experience. I like the idea of celebrating Sunday by hiking in the great outdoors 🙂

    1. You’re welcome, John, and thank you! I’m sorry you experienced something similar, but I just don’t believe God is found only within the walls of a church. Church is run by humans and humans err. If you believe, you’ll find him anywhere, especially in nature. I hope you try the hike, and I wish you a wonderful day. 🥾🏕️🐣

  5. Happy easter, my friend.
    💚🍃🙂♱

I liked your poem and thoughts about Easter. Also, I was just sharing with my step-daughter about why I stepped away from the typical sunday morning service. It was just missing the mark for me and actually became a huge annoyance. I think it can meet a lot of needs for some people, and I do not want to get on the rant of how so many Christian churches are big country clubs and run like a small business. But I told my step daughter that the Bible has encouraged us to ‘not forsake the gathering together with other believers” for edifying and strengthening – and I do believe corporate worship can be powerful – but where, when, and how often we connect with others can be very individual – and this whole forced Sunday morning gathering feels dated. Oh and at our churches they play that good contemp rock music and I am usually just not in the mood for all that on Sunday morning (esp when I worked Mon thru Fri) – so! I was telling her that we are the church – and we bring our sanctuary with us. And it sounds like the nature exploring you and your spouse do together allows you to connect with God and each other and it sounds like it is right where God has called you all to be.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Yvette, and Happy Easter! I’ll admit that it feels different for us not going to church. It’s been our ‘normal’ for decades, and we have wonderful memories of youth activities for the kids and fellowship time. But I suppose the last straw broke and that was it for us. As I mentioned to John, churches are run by humans and humans err; their behavior doesn’t always represent how a Christian should act. So, we don’t need that. Organized religion was part of our past, but our future is finding God in the beautiful outdoors. Our church wasn’t huge and corporate. It was very nice and we loved everything else about it. But a few members who play a big role in its operation soured our experience. People can yell at the top of their lungs that they are a Christian, but their actions speak louder. I wish you and your family a lovely day, my friend. 💕

      1. you are so right about actions speak the loudest and matter so much
and wasn’t it Gandhi who said, “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”
and on a side note – I have had some events with a group of fellow Christians that became enriching and special experiences I will always treasure. For example, my mom has a group of friends who do prayer station at a festival and I joined them twice. Both times it was amazing interacting with them and meeting new people,
The important thing is that we let God lead us, right….

  7. Happy Easter to you and your family, Lauren. Sweet photo! Your comment about children not necessarily enjoying those moments made me chuckle. I was thinking about looking for a similar one of Sam. 🐰 Fun memories! 😊

      1. You’re so welcome! It took some searching, but I did find a photo of Sammi sitting on the Easter Bunny’s lap. I sent it to her, and we had a good laugh. Adorable of her – the bunny is a bit terrifying. 😂 Happy Monday to you and thank you for the sweet reply. 🩷

  8. Happy Easter! I remember after taking my daughter to sit on the Easter Bunny’s lap for the iconic photo she said, “Why did you make me sit on a dude’s lap? He has a zipper going up the back of the bunny suit.”

    1. Thanks, Debby! We actually had a very nice Easter. I shared about it in my next post. 🙂 We had nothing planned because the kids are out of state and my sisters are in So. Cal. So we were spontaneous and it turned out to be a beautiful day and time. I hope you had a lovely Easter too. xoxo

      1. That sounds beautiful Lauren. Sometimes spontaneity brings lovely surprises. 🙂 Mine was quiet but I’m okay with that. Hugs xox

  9. Your message is fair and timeless, Lauren. Whatever religion we are now, it’s good to celebrate not just for Easter, but by just a life that we have been blessed from above. Peace and blessings to you.

  10. You are one of the loveliest people I know Lauren.

I’m always smitten by close families, and the way they view life.

    Nature is THE church.

Your poem is fab, thank you!

    🌟💜💖xxx

    1. Aww, thanks, Resa! I can say the same about you! Nature is the best! Church was part of our past with the kids, and there was a lot of good. But things have changed. I always appreciate your feedback. Have a great weekend! 💞💐🤗💫

      1. Yes, things have chaged.

Never had kids, and boy, have things changed.

Lots of great stuff in the changes, I’d say!

        I’m loving it all.

        xxoo💖🌟

Kind comments are welcomed...
