Happy September! I welcome the new season upon us in a few weeks with wide open arms! This summer has been stressful, and much too hot for too many consecutive days. So, cooler temps, come our way!
And on that note, Ms. Autumn has something to say…

I am not bashful. In fact, I tell it like it is, and I am thrilled that my cue for moving into your lives is coming up around the corner! In quiet moments, I reminisce on the good times when you express your oohs and aahs as I make my entrance. How I gracefully arrive donning pomegranate reds, cinnamon browns, and citrine yellows. Energy buzzes like a walk on the red carpet β a highly anticipated moment, so I have heard.
My sweet fragrance beautifies a stroll around the neighborhood. My cool touch refreshes, replacing summerβs harsh existence. And I am aware that Mr. Summerβs mood this year has been exceptionally unsympathetic toward you, my humans whom I adore!
Now regarding my work, I labor with patience and diligence β brush in hand and paint by my side to create a vibrant landscape. Lovely memories as vivid as the colors of my wardrobeβ¦
memories of yesteryear before Mr. Raging Fire barged in, disrupting the balance of the nature of seasons.
Now, each year, a sense of dread crushes that sought-after anticipation of my arrival. And yet, defeat has not prevailed. This new reality only advises that my effort must toughen upβ¦paint and brush lie in wait at my fingertips. The artist deep within will continue to create for you who appreciate the very essence of me.

It’s definitely sneaking up on us. In a way it’s a relief from the summer heat.
I’m so ready for the new season. Thanks for stopping by, Anneli. π§‘
“Energy buzzes like a walk on the red carpet…” Ms. Autumn is rip, roaring and ready to go! A Raging Fire! π₯π₯π₯ Nice narrative Lauren! π
Haha, Kym, yes, she is ready to go, and I’m so ready for summer to bid farewell! Thanks so much, my friend! π§‘π»
On to great days ahead Lauren my dear! π±βπ Keep that passion fired up girlfriend. Hugs and smooches! π€ππ
Hugs and smooches to you, too, Kym! In less than a week we fly to visit our birthday girl. Can’t wait! So great days ahead indeed! Happy Labor Day! π§‘β€οΈπππ»

And here on the opposite side of the planet we are now in Spring with alternate cold fronts and hot fronts to deal with. But the flowers blossom and trees present at their best so life is good.
Sounds wonderful, Ian. Enjoy the springtime!
I am so happy that Ms Autumn has arrived. She is dazzling in her brilliant colours, isnβt she?
She sure is, Rebecca, and I thought of you when I recorded this piece. π₯°π©·ππ
I am so pleased that you are giving voice to your creative poetry and writing, Lauren. You have a marvelous voice – full of vibrancy and vitality!!
Once in a while, I make the time, Rebecca, and I appreciate your encouraging words. ππ©·π§‘

Thanks so much, Ernie. I appreciate your kind words and for listening to the audio. π ππ
Autumn is a relief from summer. I loved the pictures of the beautiful flowers and such a lovely post Lauren πΉπΈπΉ
It sure is, Kamal, and I’m ready for it. π Thanks for your lovely words. I’m glad you enjoyed this ode to autumn. π§‘ππ
Yes very sweet Lauren. Have a wonderful week ahead πππ
Loved this, Lauren. Although we don’t necessarily have a Fall in South FL, the dip of a few degrees is always welcomed. And I do appreciate seeing Fall colors when I travel..π
Thanks, Nigel! I’m glad you enjoyed this ode to autumn and can relate to wanting cooler temps. It’s going to heat up again here this week. π₯ Enjoy the colors if you do some traveling. ππ
Thank you Lauren. π
“Lovely memories as vivid as the colors of my wardrobe…”
Very beautifully written π€©
Especially the pictures chosenπ€©ππ»
Thanks so much for your lovely comment. I appreciate it! πππ₯°
I certainly welcome the cooler temperatures. The color palette in my area isn’t as brilliant and varied as in other parts of the country, but when the aspens turn yellow and the cottonwoods change to orange, it’s still beautiful. I enjoyed this piece, Lauren. Wishing you a happy, peaceful upcoming autumn. ππ
Thanks so much, Mike. I’m glad you get to experience the yellows and oranges. I just love the colors of this season. And I can’t wait for cooler temps, but it’s going to heat up again this week. π Happy autumn to you, my friend. π₯°ππ

Autumn is enjoyable, though it would be better if it lead directly to spring.
You don’t like winter, Binky? π
A lovely intro by Autumn.
Thanks, Sadje! π§‘ππ
Youβre welcome π
A lovely prelude to an imagery-rich season. π₯° Best to you Lauren, as summer concludes, and autumn finds us! π
Thanks so much, Michele, for your beautiful words and wishes. I’m looking forward to the change, and I wish you the same. π§‘ππ

Thanks so much, Layla! I’m happy this piece prompted you to think about autumn and her anticipated arrival very soon. π§‘ππ§‘
Happy September to you Lauren π»
Thanks so much, Luisa! π§‘π»
You’re more than welcome πΌπΌπΌ
Your poem and reading do Ms. Autumn proud–although I hate to see Mr. Summer go.
Thanks, Liz! I appreciate your kind words, and I’m sorry you’ll miss Mr. Summer. π₯°
You’re welcome, Lauren!
Ah, Miss. Autumn! I have the honor of being born during your season and I have been in love with you ever since!
Well, Happy birthday, Annette! Today is my daughter’s birthday, too, so it’s a great month in many ways. π§‘π
Happy Birthday to your daughter!
Thanks, Annette! She lives out of state, but we talked on the phone Sunday morning for 4 1/2 hours! It was awesome, and we’re flying Sunday to visit her and our SIL, so we’ll see her that night! Can’t wait! π₯°π
Ms. Autumn speaks like a poet.
This is a lovely message, and I am in love with autumn.
I appreciate that you do not have your head in the sand, pretending the beauty is all there is.
The fires, climate change… we need to know or we will do nothing.
Loved listening to your voice, Ms. Autumn.
Thank you!

What a lovely comment, Resa, and Ms. Autumn appreciates it very much. As far as she can remember, the fire season began around here in 2017. So, while many couldn’t wait for her elegant entrance, the fires that raged at the same time, painted a haze over the excitement and anticipation. But as the years roll by, humans learn more and more to live one day at a time, still appreciating the beauty around and to come, as well as, preparing for a new norm. So, Happy September dear friend. π§‘ππππ»
Understood!
Canada’s forests are fantastic, but they are burning now every summer, taking towns big and small with them.
Hopefully we are just in a segue to a new norm, that will be born out of intelligence and caring.

That’s awful, Resa, but I’m hoping for the same thing. Sending hugs! xoxoxoxo

My favorite time of year, and your story through Miss Autumn was gorgeous! β€ xx
I’m finding that many love this time of year, Debby, so I’m glad you enjoyed Ms. Autumn’s narrative. Thanks SO much for your beautiful comment. π§‘πππ»
I enjoyed hearing your recitation, Lauren. For me the shift to autumn is fraught with grief over the loss of hot summer days. This year, so far, I’m not caught up in that cycle as much, with all the beauty and togetherness and reconciliation life has brought in recent months, though I do hope for many warm, golden sunny autumn days to come. I wish you a good week, my friend! π
Thanks so much, Steve! I hope you get some warm, golden sunny autumn days. I love those, but today it’s 100 again, and that’s too hot! It’s been an exceptionally hot, hot summer, so that’s why I’m ready for cooler temps. π I wish you the same, my friend! βοΈππ
Oof, yeah, thatβs pretty hot. Nice and cool as I sit in the shelter of the summer porch with the heat of the day less harsh without the direct sunlight. Oh, and the sound of the ice cream truckβs music as he weaves his way through the neighbourhoodβ¦ Mmmm π€ππ
This is so beautifully written, Lauren!
Thanks so much, Dawn! π§‘π
Can’t wait, flowers and trees. Bring it on!
Haha, Curt! I’m with you! πππ
Peggy and I will be driving the Blue Ridge Highway after we get back from the Danube in October, hopefully to catch a lot of fall colors.
Dear Lauren, such a nice post to welcome Autumn in our lives π§‘. I really enjoy this season, it’s so conforting and sweet.
May it be a nice one for you too.
Thanks so much, Marie, and I wish you the same for autumn. Ironically, we’re having a cluster of 100 degree days, so we’re still waiting for cooler temps. π Sending hugs, my friend!
Such a beautiful post
Thank you!
Dear Lauren
We love autumn. All time sunshine and warm is boring and we are looking forward to real weather.
Our last post is about the end of the sunflower season at our coast.
Have a happy weekend

Beautiful words,Lauren, that capture the magic of the photograph. We’re still in summer here with rains that pop in and out every now and then.
Thanks for your lovely words, Smitha! The hot weather doesnβt want to leave, but right now, weβre in Tennessee visiting our daughter, and itβs actually been nicer than in CA. π₯°
