Angles of Wisdom

Angles of Wisdom

My eyes look up to the tallest trees
on our precious planet
and I am drawn into stillness
like a hypnotist’s magic

Fine slivers of blue calm many thoughts
becoming thieves,
stealing pockets of peace
that wish to bring essential balance

Soft clusters of green gently dance in a breeze
while nature’s wildlife
build their homes and playgrounds

Sparrows and blackbirds croon for their mates
I ruminate on how these majestic giants
take care of each other, unconditionally
We should emulate without deliberation

My eyes look up and I am reminded
of their age ancient as dinosaurs
that roamed the land

Angles of wisdom permeate my space
My eyes slowly close
I breathe in and savor this moment
that is mine to own.

  1. I love, love, love your recitation, Lauren. Beautifully delivered with grace and kindness, and yet brings us to a gentle call to action!!! I’m following you on SoundCloud!!!

    1. Aww, thanks so much, Rebecca! I love, love, love your enthusiasm! I want to read more of my poems, but I don’t always have time to record. And I’m following you on SoundCloud too, but I’m not on there that often. Thanks for your nudge! I need to record more. 🥰❤️

  2. Beautiful, Lauren. I’m going to see the Redwoods next week and your poem made me think of them. Our trees are wise, generous, and beautiful metaphors for how all life can coexist peacefully. I loved your poem. ❤

    1. Thanks so much, Diana! You expressed it so well too. This park is nearby, so we visit these trees often, but it’s always a magical experience. Enjoy your time with the majestic giants. And I’m glad you loved my poem. 🩷🌷

  3. Tremendously beautiful recitation, Lauren. It was nice to hear your voice this way. I listened on the browser as I don’t have that app. Sorry. But it was just divinely lovely. Thanks.

    1. Thanks for your lovely words, Selma. I appreciate you taking the time to listen. Reciting my poetry is something I’d like to do more of, but it has to be planned because it takes more time. I’m also slowly getting used to hearing my own voice. 🙂 Thanks again, my friend. Hope your weekend is wonderful. xo

      1. Hearing 0ne’s Own voice— that gets me too.
I’ve done a couple of reading as well. But but nothing fancy—on my phone. Yours sounds very professional. Keep up the great work. Blessings.

  4. Beautiful prose and picture, Lauren! I feel the serenity settle into my soul, at the end, of the piece. I find nature to be a great healer and I love trees. Thanks for your words.

    Many Blessings

    Lisa xoxo

  5. Amazing, Lauren!

It’s truly a beautiful poem. Thank you!

FYI – I started drawing Copper. I have never drawn a dog…or a cat. Animals are not on my experience of drawing list. First few nights (I usually spend an hour or bit more a night drawing) I wasn’t sure, but I do believe it’s coming along now.

It’s not just drawing a dog, but I am discovering that like humans, there are distinctions.

    1. Thanks so much, Resa! I’m glad you think so! 🙂 And yay! I can’t wait! I know your drawing will be awesome even if it’s not your normal forte. If you can draw Amy Winehouse, you can draw Copper! Hugs! xoxoxoxo
