“Burdens to Buoyancy” published on Gobblers & Masticadores!

Dear Family and Friends,

I’m thrilled to share that my poem “Burdens to Buoyancy” is published on Gobblers & Masticadores today! Thank you to Manuela Timofte for believing in my work and providing the opportunity to be a monthly contributor to her literary site. I am in the company of so many talented writers. Thanks again, Manuela!

Burdens to Buoyancy

Stones of burdens can seem like pebbles

barely tripping us up in our routines,

but sometimes, they’re boulder massive,

sliding us deeply into our heads

when the need to escape

from our own selves

becomes vital for our sanity.

We pause in our footsteps,

holding our breath, fighting tears

pushing as fiercely as a category five

The rest of the poem can be read here, and as always, a BIG THANKS to all of you for your wonderful support!

  1. Beautiful poem. You captured exactly how I feel when overwhelmed. Then I look out the window at something beautiful in nature and feel better. Congratulations!

  2. These are such beautiful words today, and remind me of some of my own thoughts about life and the storms and burdens we face along the way. Congratulations on your publication, Lauren!

  3. “and those boulders shrink to pebbles.” Nice message, Lauren. If we can turn mole hills into mountains, we should be able to turn boulders into pebbles. Like the photo. Peggy and I were just on Glass Beach in Fort Bragg and got some fun photos of the pebbles, glad and shells. Congratulations.

    1. Thanks so much, Curt, and you make a good point too: “If we can turn mole hills into mountains, we should be able to turn boulders into pebbles.” Your trips sounds great. We’re going to book a weekend in Fort Bragg. We need to do it! 🙂 Thanks again!
