Tightrope

Tightrope

Let us gently walk
on this tightrope called life,
trying to keep our bodies still,
our minds calm
which easily slip into
the grip of worry,
because prying the ‘worry fingers’
away from worn-out brains
nearly takes the jaws of life.

Make each step gentle
to avoid tumbling
into a rabbit hole of anxiety,
sliding deeper
into shadows that frighten,

and softer steps
are healthier
than getting stuck
in the muck of negativity
that will weigh us down
like an overloaded backpack.

The tightrope may fray though.
It could snap with one wrong footprint
.

So, our light steps are obligated
to keep us balanced.

Our gentle steps will steady
the wind in our wings.

Do my words resonate? Is something weighing you down in life?
Does my poem provide comfort? I hope so…

Thank you for your presence today. I am truly grateful,
and I wish you a wonderful week ahead. ❤️

Light the candles!

This week has been tough. Forward is the only direction, while staying hopeful and strong, persevering, and focusing on the good, the sweetness. So, even though I shared this poem last November, I thought it would be apropos for a second go around. If you’ve read it before, I hope you don’t mind a repeat.

November

A tall cedar pitches its pods
onto the smooth driveway,
footsteps crunch on fallen foliage

a broom sweeps, piles grow
for hoisting into the bin

but the tall cedar pitches again
oh, this lovely season!

the air turns crisp for layering,
wiping sweat away
from summer’s fever,
raindrops soothe flaccid petals

early evenings surrender
to nightfall,
but set out the candles!
Play Sinatra on vinyl
and sink into coziness

Will you remember
this sweet November?

Dear Family and Friends, I am thrilled to share that my poem, “An Invitation” is published on Spillwords Press today as a Featured Post! Thank you to Dagmara and her team for accepting my submission. An Invitation

Smooth granite invites contemplation and reflection.
Please, take a seat, relax, watch the lake’s ripples
perform their water dance. Does the shimmering surface
remind you of stars presenting a ballet in a brilliant night sky?

Note the tall pines swaying in the breeze,
you can gently sway, too, if you feel the need.
Let the depth of your soul bathe in the beauty.
