The Best Gift

children hugging

Do you live in color, shades of gray or black and white?
Do smiles grace your face as often as they should?
It’s a stretch to dodge the tears and let joy shine through
when times are tough and you’ve done all you could

There are no magic words to take away the sting
or miracle tunes to make you dance along the way
Just a hug and a shoulder and an ear to listen
all from my heart, I offer you this rich bouquet

  1. This is so good, so true and so relevant today, all it takes is a shoulder, a word of encouragement, a peck on the cheeks that matters so much. Thanks, and wish you a Happy New Year!

    1. Aww, thanks so much for your lovely comment, Rodrick, and wouldn’t it be nice if we all acted this way for each other? If only…wishing you a very Happy New Year, too!
