Acknowledge, then Act!!

Drought

Don’t plunge into panic mode

Regardless of how dire and

Overwhelming circumstances may feel, but

Unless we acknowledge the alarming changes,

Get to work, take the initiative –

How will improvements for future generations

Touch our planet, be allowed to come to light?

I found these beautiful plants on my walk this morning.

Food for thought as a new week begins.

Make it a good one!

    • Thanks, Erica, and I’m glad you’re in agreement. I’ve never been into cacti, but I thought these were beautiful. And since we’re in a severe drought, now would be the time to use these drought-resistant plants. I’m dreading the next few months between the drought and fire season. Sigh. One day at a time. Have a great week, too! 🌺🌺

  1. Beautiful succulents, Lauren. And a wonderfully poetic call to action. Something to acknowledge and act on asap. Climate change is such a huge concern. Fires over the last few years have been terrible, and we’ve just had to driest spring I can remember. We can each do our part, but sadly, the effort has to be so much larger than that. I certainly hope our (slow) momentum continues.

    • Thanks, Diana, and I agree with all you said. Here in the bay area, we’re in a severe drought which is tough enough. But with fire season upon us, I’m honestly dreading this summer and early fall. And yes, the effort has to be much larger, as you said. Sigh…one day at a time. Enjoy your day, my friend. 💕

    • Thanks for stopping by, Ally, and I’m glad you liked this post. I’ve never been much into cacti, but I thought these plants weren’t only lovely, but they were the right choice for living in a severe drought. I became inspired to write. Anyway, I appreciate your visit!

  2. Lauren, a thoughtful reminder to us all about climate change – a topic that has taken second place to Covid this year but its dangers are far-reaching and going to be difficult to reverse. How true that this is not a time to panic but steadily and with conviction hope things move to help the planet. Aww … I love cacti and you have given us a plethora of them here. Glorious! No wonder they inspired your poem! Wishing you a wonderful weekend! 😀

    • Thanks so much for your insightful, wonderful comment, Annika. I hope it’s not too late for positive changes. But like you said, it will be difficult to reverse. I worry about the younger generations. So glad you loved the cacti, too. This is the first year we didn’t buy new blooms – less to water. Have a great weekend also! xo

  4. Thank you for your writings, Lauren. A great reminder to acknowledge and act. Beutiful pictures! I feel the outer world is a mirror for our inner one. I wonder where are we internally at a drought? Many blessings, Lisa xoxo

I appreciate your thoughts!
