Under the redwood tree
a bee dives low
for the water…
heads go under
Arms and legs
move with grace –
we look up to the
bright blue sky
with a touch of white
Two crows speak
as if we understand
their urgency…
silence soon becomes them
Under the redwood tree
we breathe in serenity –
Lacing our fingers
we steal a kiss
and reminisce
to those earlier days

Nice to see you posting again, Lauren.
Thanks, Binky. You know by now that I like taking breaks. 🙂
artful imagery
Thanks, Carl! The branches of our redwood tree that extend over our pool inspired me one day. 🙂
When we lose connection with nature we cut our lifeline.
Well said, Ben, and I agree! Our family will never lose connection with nature; it’s just part of who we are…
Aww Lauren that’s beautiful! I feel like I’ve lived similar moments of peace with nature, but haven’t silenced my mind enough to do so for a while
Thanks, Scott! My husband trained our redwood to grow as a canopy over a part of our pool. Hence, inspiration one day. 🙂 It’s really nice, and I hope you get to experience that peace and silence very soon, too. I know how busy you are, but moments like these are needed also for balance of the mind and soul…hugs and blessings…
Nice to have you back online again Lauren. A nice poem!
Thanks so much, Ian! I’ll visit your site later today. Hope all is well!
What lovely imagery, Lauren! Inspiration comes from the most surprising places, sometimes our everyday activities and places. Love and hugs, dear Lauren.
Thanks, Michelle, and it sure does. Hope you have a blessed Sunday. Love and hugs, dear friend. 💕
There is so much beauty in nature – and you brought some of that to the fore. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much, Eric. We’ve enjoyed a lot of nature this summer through backpacking and camping, and we couldn’t live without it. 🙂
