A Moment’s Peace

shade tree

Relaxation finds me beneath this tree
pondering life and sweet serenity
Butterflies do their carefree dance
in the air is the scent of romance
From where I sit in a patch of shade
squirrels scamper on the carpet of jade
Birds join in with a song or two
their melodies erase my moods of blue
Life bounces by, yet stillness abounds
calming every nerve with all unique sounds
This pillar of strength shelters and embraces
while emotions change to different faces
I close my eyes to the whispers of the breeze
allowing my mind to finally be at ease

  1. Lauren, I just loved your poem. And it sounded like you composed it in the most perfect spot under the shade of that tree.. What better place to be… wish it was me… 🙂 lol.. Love and Hugs for a beautiful week Lauren.. Can you believe Sept is out this week?.. We had an exceptional warm day here today.. Enjoy your week.. Hugs Sue x

    1. Thanks so much, Sue, it is a lovely place to be, isn’t it? I wish I could be there today instead of at work. lol But you could be there! 🙂 It’s hard to believe Oct is tomorrow, but honestly, I’m ready for fall and cooler weather…have a lovely, peaceful rest of your week, too! Many hugs! xo

    1. What a wonderful place to be, Don, relaxing in a hammock. Something we don’t have, but we could add it to our list of things to buy! 🙂 Thanks so much for your kind words and I’m surprised this poem has been so well received. We never know the outcome once we click publish, but I’m grateful, to say the least…have a wonderful rest of the week!
